Our National Emblem

Hi Everyone! Hope you all are reading my blogs and enjoying them. Today I am going to pen down my thoughts on a very interesting topic that’s ‘Our National Emblem’.

Along with National Flag, I also respect my National Emblem. Our National Emblem is adapted from the “Lion Capital of Ashoka.” The Lion Capital of Ashoka is preserved in the Sarnath Museum near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The National Emblem of India is structured to represent four Asiatic Lions standing back to back on a circular abacus and symbolizes power, pride, courage, and confidence. The wheel appears in relief in the center of the abacus with a bull on the right and a galloping horse on the left. The motto Satyameva Jayate is inscribed below the Emblem. It means ‘The Truth Alone Triumphs”. It is a quote from Mundaka Upanishad, the concluding part of sacred Hindu Vedas. We can see our National Emblem on the official letterhead of the Government of India, on all Indian currency as well as on Indian passports.

Thus I can say that our National Emblem is a symbol of the identity and Sovereignty of Independent India.

Thank you
