Do you know the very playful sea creature? Of course, it is a dolphin! Dolphins are known as 'the playful sea creature' because they act very friendly to humans. There are true stories about dolphins which saved humans who were drowning in the sea by an accident!

So today let us together learn some new and fascinating facts about dolphins!

Nearly 40 species of dolphins swim in the water around the world. Most of them live in shallow areas like tropical oceans and five species in rivers. Dolphins are carnivores. Their prey list includes fish, squid, and many more.
A 260-pound dolphin eats about 30- 33 pounds of fishes!

Dolphins are highly intelligent, they are very smart that the human brain and dolphin brain are mostly close enough to match! Dolphins are a part of the family which includes the whales, orcas, pilot whales, and killer whales too!
Dolphins are very social that they even hunt and play together in groups, also known as pods. A large number of pods can also have 1000 members or more!
The dolphin calves stay with their mother anywhere from three to eight years. Dolphins have acute eyesight, out, and also in the water.

Dolphins have some natural enemies, humans are their main threat, pollution and hunting mean some dolphin species uncertain future. In 2006 the Yangtze River dolphin was known as functionally extinct. Dolphins have the ability to hear 10 times more than adult humans.

Because dolphins are mammals, they need to come to the surface of the water to breathe. Dolphins eat through their mouth and breathe through their blowholes.
