Natural Wonders!

Hello everyone! Today I am back with a new blog on natural hotspots that are worth visiting! In this blog, we are going to take a look at two places that are picturesque and amazing to see. Also, they look so artificial that it is almost impossible to believe that they are the work of nature. So, let's dive in….

Cotton castle
If you thought fairy tales exist only in dreams, then Pammukkale will prove you wrong! It is a World Heritage Site located near Denizli, in Turkey. Pamukkale meaning 'cotton castle', is a spectacular geological formation of natural white terraces with shallow basins and frozen limestone waterfalls. The waters of one of its many mineral-rich hot springs have been flowing down the terraces for thousands of years. They deposit calcium carbonate along the mountainside to the valley below. As the calcium crystallizes, oyster-shaped pools and chalky-white stalactites of limestone keep forming, making the entire place look like a snowy fortress from a distance.

People have been known to bathe in the hot springs since Roman times, believing it to have curative powers for various ailments like rheumatism. Pamukkale is also the site of the ruins of an ancient city, Hierapolis, also a World Heritage site. Established by Eumenes, the King of Pergamon in the second century BC, it flourished as a spa city under the Romans in the second and third century AD.

Chinese rainbow
The Gansu Zhangye National Geopark in China is one of nature's colorful surprises. The rocky cliffs in the park are a fine example of the Danxia landform. It is a unique rock formation in which the terrain appears coated in dramatic colorful bands of red, green, yellow, and blue. The geological wonder is the result of 24 million years of deposits of red sandstone and other minerals.

So thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!
