My Country My Pride
Hey readers, I am back with my new blog known as “My Country My Pride” this blog is a story of one of the brave heroes of our country so can you guess what am I talking about? No? okay This is a story that happened in Siachen the crown of our country. Siachen glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram range in the Himalayas. Siachen is important for us because it is between India and Pakistan that’s why it is called the crown of India. It is an interesting story so are you interested? Okay, let’s dive in.
India shares its borders with many countries. The soldiers on the borders have continual shelling by the soldiers of the other country. A soldier called Ranjan Kumar Rathod was transferred to Siachen where it was -60 degrees Celsius. He had been in the army for 13 years and he had completed his training at HAWS (High Altitude Warfare School) for about 3 months. When he was slumbering first thing he felt was the freezing cold that stung his body beneath his clothes and complete darkness surrounded him. What could it be? Was it a bird chirping or leaves rustling or an enemy attacking? Don’t be silly said the voice in his head because he forgot that he was 20,000 feet above sea level. The soldiers used to carry a total of 35 kilos of goods with them and they used to boil the water for 2 to 3 hours but it was not enough to boil water at -60 degree Celsius and also, they have to wear anti frostbite gloves because if they touch anything with you bare hands you will get a frostbite same happened with his friend Faiyaz Ahmed he touched a spoon without gloves so he got frostbite and his finger had to be amputated.
One day he heard a noise shouting BACHAOOO! He waked up and wore his anti-frostbite gloves picked up the gun and waked up Samuel Golden and then he grabbed a geo tracker and walked away. He saw 2 dots on the geo tracker one on left and one on the right he thought if the left dot is still so I will go to the right and he changed his direction. He knew that the left dot was an animal so he thought it could be an ibex? A snow leopard? While he was thinking he heard a growl of a wild brown bear he looked up at the 7 feet tall creature and fired 3 consecutive rounds to scare the bear. His mind said kill it but he could not because they are near extinction so he flashed a flashlight on the eyes of the bear and the bear closed his eyes because of the flash so Ranjan Kumar Rathod took the advantage and tried to rescue the civilian while he was going to rescue the civilian in a crevice Captain Vijay stopped him because there was one more crevice in which Ranjan Kumar Rathod was going to fall and he felt that it is good that he woke up Samuel Jolden. He rescued the civilian by saving himself, the civilian, and the bear. The civilian called him the angel of god. After this incident posting on Siachen become easier as they come up with hopes to face this kind of incident.
So readers, as we are at the end of this blog I am very proud of my country as our soldiers are facing many challenges but still protect our country at any cost. Hold on as I will come up with such interesting blogs. I hoped you liked my blog. Till then bye bye! Jai Hind!
