So the egg can be in many colors and shapes and at the upside of the egg there is a hole called as Micropyle from that hole water and air goes to inside caterpillar and after 3 to 7 days and then a larva hatch the egg with the help of his teeth larva is called caterpillar after they hatch most caterpillar eat the egg as there first meal. But do you know why the butterflies lay the egg on the leaf? Let me tell you about it butterflies lay the egg on the leaf because after caterpillar hatch the egg they continuously eat till 2 to 5 weeks to grow big. Then after eating so much they grow big and then they find a suitable place to rest they make silk pad that is pupa and it is also called as cocoon the protective shell is called Chrysalis and after 2 to 5 weeks a beautiful butterfly comes out of the pupa and grow the flowers to see butterflies.
