T. S. Eliot’s Most Prominent Cat Poem, None Other Than Skimbleshanks

 Today to my readers, I’ll be introducing an exceptional poet from a well-known area in the United States. And he is none other than… T. S. Eliot.

T. S. Eliot is a great and popular poet, publisher, editor, essayist, and literary critic. He has written many poems and books. He is a central figure in the English language and a Major poet. He was born on 26 September 1888, St. Louis, Missouri, United States and
died on 4 January 1965, Kensington.
And today I will be telling you the summary of the poem Skimbleshanks by T. S. Eliot. Skimbleshanks poem is one of the picture book versions written by T. S. Eliot and it’s the most famous cat poem written by him. This poem is adored by children and is well-known.

Skimbleshanks- the railway cat poem, is a narrative poem written by Thomas Stearns Eliot. In this poem, there’s an unbelievable cat doing unbelievable acts. This cat is the manager of the Night Mail train in a railway station. Every single passenger wants Skimbleshanks for their safety on the train. Why? This cat wins trust and respect from the passengers as he safeguards them throughout the journey. He has a keen eye for details and does not compare or judge between the first class and third class. The poet says different deeds done by Skimbleshanks when the train stops at Dumfries, Carlisle, Crewe, and Gallowgate. Skimbleshanks is very busy, serious, specific, and also has a cup of tea and a drop of Scotch every now and then so he stays active and fresh to patrol the train. He organizes everything to make the passengers go on a happy and safe journey.
