In today's blog we are going to discuss 4 major dance forms of India so zoom into the world of dance.

Kathak: Kathak is one of the main dances of India. It is originated from northern India. Kathak is a form of rural theatre focussing on the tales of Hindu goddesses, and one which emerged in the medieval era is presently found in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. The costume of the kathak is very sophisticated and simple. It is always a sari worn a little differently with a simple bracelet necklace and earrings and a touch of makeup with a big round bindi in the middle of the forehead with two wide jingles on the feet.

Bharatanatyam: Bharatanatyam is the national dance of India and originates from Tamil Nadu. It is very gracefully performed. It concentrates on footwork and body language. Bharatanatyam is also expressed as some story types. The importance of Bharatanatyam is it boosts body circulation and helps you live long and a healthy life. Dancers wear costumes made of silk sarees with gold zari embroidery designs. The pleats in these costumes open beautifully when the dancer forms a particular posture with long heavy jewelry and big bun hair with white garlands and lots of make-up.
Kathakali: This is a major form of classical Indian dance it is originated in Kerala. It is a "story play" genre of art performed as a dance. It is mostly performed by male actor-dancer. Kathakali focuses on the movement and most importantly the facial expression and eye movement, the performers need lots of patience and concentration. Kathakali is a Hindu performance art in the Malayalam-speaking southwestern region of Kerala. The outfit of kathakali is extremely heavy with all the makeup, outfit, and headwear for any kathakali performer. It takes minimum 4 hours to get ready.
